Large participation in the Chemnitz Environmental Award 2023
More than 450 children and young people submitted a total of 26 projects
Projects for this year's Chemnitz Environmental Award could be submitted until mid-April. The City of Chemnitz Environmental Agency received a total of 26 exciting environmental projects in each age category:
- Day care centre: eleven projects
- Primary school: nine entries
- Grades 5 to 8: four entries
- Classes 9 to 12 and young people up to 20 years: two works
A wide range of topics was also covered this year. Several bee-related works were submitted, as well as upcycling projects and even a complete theatre piece. More than 450 children and young people from Chemnitz took part in the Environment Agency's educational campaign this year.
What happens now?
All ideas are first digitised at the Environment Agency and then submitted to the Environmental Award jury for evaluation. The jury assesses the results on the basis of specific criteria, which are weighted differently for each age category: For example, active action to improve the environment, the sustainability of the idea, the examination of the topic and the preparation of the project are assessed.
Each jury member can award a maximum of ten points per evaluation criterion. The winners are expected to be announced in mid-June.
