Large Erzgebirge mining parade in Chemnitz city centre requires traffic restrictions on Saturday (29.11.)

For the 36th time, the Great Erzgebirge Mountain Parade, which takes place in Chemnitz every year on the day before the 1st Advent, will parade through the city centre on Saturday, 29 November from 2 pm: The participants in the parade will be welcomed by Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig.

For the first time, more than 1,000 participants will take part in the parade: 633 people in uniform, 360 mountain musicians and 40 mountain singers will take part in the always impressive procession. There will be a pre-concert in the Stadthallenpark from 13:30 with the Olbernhau-Grünthal metallurgical band and the choir of the Zwickau Coal Mining Association. As usual, the start of the mining parade will be at 2 p.m. on Theaterplatz, with the route leading via Karl-Liebknecht-Straße, Richard-Tauber-Straße, Straße der Nationen and Brückenstraße to Stadthallenpark. The grand closing ceremony will take place here at 2.30 pm.

The 36th Days of Erzgebirge Folklore traditionally take place in the Stadthalle itself on the 1st weekend of Advent under the motto "Advent in the Erzgebirge" - the detailed programme, which includes music, song and dance performances as well as guided tours by Erzgebirge artisans and many hands-on activities, is available online at www.stadthalle-chemnitz.de.

Information from the traffic authorities: The city's traffic authority asks that you take note of the temporary traffic restrictions in the city centre from 1:30 p.m. until around 4 p.m. due to the large-scale event. The entire parade route will be operationally closed and reopened by the Chemnitz Police Headquarters. We ask for your understanding and attention that all car parks in the area of the parade route will be closed from 9 am. The mountain parade starts on the theatre square, runs along Karl-Liebknecht-Straße to the right into Richard-Tauber-Straße, then continues to the right along the city lane of the Straße der Nationen.right into Brückenstraße as far as Theaterstraße and then back along Brückenstraße to the forecourt of the Stadthalle.

The parade route can be bypassed via Bahnhofstraße - Theaterstraße - Mühlenstraße - Georgstraße. Visitors to the event and the city centre should also make use of the public transport options(www.cvag.de). Visitors travelling by car are requested to find out about parking facilities in advance - information on this is published in the attached map.
