LAP Monitoring Committee gains new members

Committee oversees funding allocation for democracy projects

From 1 January 2024, three new members will join the LAP Monitoring Committee: the associations Courage - Werkstatt für demokratische Bildungsarbeit e.V., Wiederbelebung kulturellen Brachlandes e. V. and Neue Arbeit Chemnitz e. V. The Monitoring Committee of the City of Chemnitz's Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz (LAP) is an important component of the promotion of democracy in Chemnitz.

At the same time, three members are leaving the LAP Monitoring Committee on a rotational basis. "We would like to thank Arbeit und Leben Sachsen e. V., AGIUA e. V. and Stadtsportbund Chemnitz e. V. for their many years of cooperation. With their voluntary commitment, they have contributed to spreading more diversity, democracy and tolerance in Chemnitz," says Doreen Völkel from the coordination centre of the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz (LAP).

The three new members are once again competent civil society players who are actively committed to democratic, tolerant, equal, inclusive and diverse coexistence in Chemnitz.

The Monitoring Committee is actively involved in the implementation of the municipal action strategy for the promotion of democracy and the funding principles of the federal "Live Democracy!" programme. It consists of 17 members. In accordance with the guidelines of the City of Chemnitz for the funding of projects as part of the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz (LAP), these 17 representatives reflect the cooperative collaboration between civil society and administration.
