Kultursommer am Brühl: graffiti competition Rebelism Mission and many other creative activities invite you to enjoy the long weekend

This weekend's programme of the Kultursommer am Chemnitzer Brühl is all about art: the graffiti competition Rebelism Mission will see 400 m² of mobile wall surfaces painted on the boulevard! And if you want to get an insight into this art form - either as a spectator or as a participant - alongside music and an accompanying programme, Saturday (17 August) on the Brühl is the place to be.

As usual, there will also be a great musical programme on Saturday: open air on the Brühl platforms during the day and then in the Barlament (Brühl 51) from 10 pm. The slackliners from the Slack-Werk, two readings and the Sunday Hangover, where you can watch the street artists at work with music and a barbecue in a relaxed atmosphere, will round off the programme creatively, so to speak.

Here's a look at the programme - tips for the long summer weekend from this afternoon until Sunday:

Friday, 16 August to Sunday, 18 August, 4pm to 8pm each day: Slackwerk Workshop & Show - Like slackliners conquering city centres elsewhere, this group of young acrobatics enthusiasts from Chemnitz are currently conquering the Brühl with this new trend sport, which involves balancing on a webbing strap. Spectators can watch the acrobats at the weekend or try balancing themselves.

Saturday, 17 August, 11 am to 8 pm: Rebelism Mission IV - After N*Dorphin, Kraftwerk & Substanz, this year the European Art Community EKG is once again hosting the fourth street art and graffiti competition Rebelism Mission - The Battle as part of the Chemnitz Summer of Culture. Almost 400 square metres of wall space are waiting to be painted. There will also be plenty of prizes for the winners and a day of cosy get-togethers for everyone. Food and drink will also be provided. The whole event will be accompanied by breakdancing, a freestyle rap battle and an open mic.

Saturday, 17 August, 3 to 4 pm, Brühl-Terrassen: Reading Karsten Krankemann: Rhododendron green olive thoughts - Where two argue, I'm the laughing third - So it's the top view that counts, observing and your own state of mind. Images that trigger a feeling of well-being, the reflection of one's own childhood, drifting off into a world full of olive thoughts. The listener becomes an observer through the telescope of life, without the insertion of coins or time limits.

Sunday, 18 August, 3 to 4 p.m.: Jana Heidler reading: Mit dem Zeitenstrom durch Traum und Fantasie - Eine Fantasy- und Horrolesung auf den Brühl-Terrassen.
