Kultur.RAUM in the TIETZ cultural centre reopens after remodelling
Following its successful remodelling, the Kultur.RAUM on the ground floor of the TIETZ (Moritzstraße side) is now open again with its familiar offerings and new services.
The Kultur.RAUM is a visitor-friendly meeting point for cultural and educational organisations as well as a place where citizens can find information and discuss cultural issues. For example, the Kultur.RAUM offers counselling sessions from the cultural sector on questions of cultural funding and cultural projects. Initial project ideas can be presented and current information on interesting cultural projects and institutions can be found in the displays.
The office of the International Stefan Heym Society and the Cultural Education Contact Centre are also based at Kultur.RAUM. The programme advisory board of the International Stefan Heym Society, cultural project groups and the Socio-Cultural Youth Fund working group meet regularly to discuss the planning and funding of projects and strategies.
The redesign of the space will also open up other interesting service opportunities for the public. For example, the cooperation partner Netzwerk für Kultur- und Jugendarbeit will be offering a discussion and advice afternoon every two weeks from 9 November 2016. Citizens, associations and initiatives interested in culture can drop by without prior appointment for a discussion on networking, funding opportunities and collaborations.
The cultural organisation is already in contact with other potential partners and networkers from the cultural and creative industries in order to further enrich the offerings at Kultur.RAUM.
Kultur.RAUM is run by the City of Chemnitz's cultural management department. The design concept was created by Atelier n.4, Barbara Graupner. With the completion of the Kultur.RAUM, the first phase of an overall strategy to redesign the ground floor area of the TIETZ has been realised. All work is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2017. The remodelling of the Kultur.RAUMES was funded by the Free State of Saxony and the City of Chemnitz.
