KRACH starts the second round of the competition with new properties

The "KRACH - Kreativraum Chemnitz" programme will start its second edition with new commercial spaces on 4 March 2019. Once again, companies from the cultural and creative industries are invited to apply for one of the available spaces.

To mark the start of the competition, media representatives are cordially invited to the press conference on Wednesday, 27 February 2019, 11 a.m., at Brühl 42.


During the press conference, we will inform you about the 2019 competition process (timelines, jury, prize money) and the new KRACH properties.


The following people will be available to talk to you:

  • Sören Uhle, Managing Director of Chemnitzer Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungs GmbH CWE as sponsor of the programme and juror
  • Frank Müller, Chairman of the industry association Kreatives Chemnitz e.V.
  • André Zimpel, winner of the first KRACH edition 2017/18 and future owner of the shop Brühl 42
  • Grit Stillger, jury member, City Planning Office, City of Chemnitz
  • Katja Großer, jury member, Saxon Centre for Cultural and Creative Industries
  • Representatives of the organisers of the second KRACH round
  • Other members of the jury and the organisation team


KRACH - Kreativraum Chemnitz aims to promote the establishment of companies and projects in the cultural and creative industries in Chemnitz. On the initiative of the City of Chemnitz, Chemnitzer Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH and the industry association Kreatives Chemnitz e. V., public and private landlords make commercial space in Chemnitz available for use by these projects free of charge for up to three years. In addition, the award winners receive a start-up budget as well as support from experts in business, law and marketing.


Over 50 project and business ideas were submitted in the first round of the "KRACH - Kreativraum Chemnitz" competition last year and 11 projects were honoured.


The "KRACH" funding programme and the promotion of the cultural and creative industries is an important step towards becoming "European Capital of Culture 2025".
