Konkordiapark - construction of skate park about to begin
Invitation to the press event for Thursday, 13 March at 1 pm in Konkordiapark (Richard-Hartmann-Straße / Leipziger Straße / Matthesstraße / Bergstraße)
The new skate park in Konkordiapark, eagerly awaited by the Chemnitz BMX and skate scene, is due to open soon. Around 190,000 euros have been earmarked for the facility.
Before the actual start of construction, the existing lightweight elements will be cleared by the employees of the Parks Department and the skateboards that are still intact will be stored for repair work on existing skate parks in the city. These preparatory construction works will begin next Monday.
A symbolic ground-breaking ceremony for the construction project will take place on Thursday, 13 March at 13:00 in the presence of the Mayor of Construction, Ms Petra Wesseler. The media are cordially invited to the event and will receive information on the future appearance of the park.
The scheduled construction period will last until the end of June 2014.
Users of the park are requested to respect the barriers and cordoning-off times required for the construction work. This is the only way to guarantee the necessary drying times required for the expected immaculate quality of the future park.
