On Monday, 30 September, from 7 to 8.30 p.m., interested parties are invited to a lecture and discussion with Dr Gunnar Richter, Head of the Transplantation Officer's Office at Chemnitz Hospital, on the topic "Organ donation - yes or no? What do I need to know for my decision?" at the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre in the TIETZ, course room 4.07.
Participation is free of charge. Registration and further information at www.vhs-chemnitz.de/kurs/W2432211
There is a lot of ignorance, uncertainty and misinformation within the population on the subject of organ donation. But everyone is called upon to make a very personal decision: organ donation - yes or no? The currently discussed so-called opt-out solution has brought the topic of organ donation back into the spotlight. Among other things, the following topics will be discussed at the event:
- Brain death - what exactly does this mean and how is brain death determined?
- Who decides whether to approve or reject an organ donation?
- Who does what on the way to organ donation?
- Are age and previous illnesses even important for organ donation?
The focus will be on the current legal basis of the decision solution and the preparation of the individual position for or against organ donation. Questions from those present will also be answered.
The event is a co-operation between Klinikum Chemnitz gGmbH and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.
