Klaffenbach gymnasium completed

On Friday, 2 August, the final construction work in the outdoor area of the Klaffenbach gymnasium will be completed.

The interior of the old, existing gymnasium was completely gutted and a two-storey social wing with new sanitary and changing areas was built. There is now a direct connection between the old and the new gymnasium. The ground floor has also been given barrier-free access. With the exception of the roof covering and roof construction, the old hall has been completely renovated and remodelled. The energy-efficient refurbishment includes a new heating and ventilation system as well as a complete thermal insulation composite system on the exterior walls.

The costs amount to a total of around 1.5 million euros, including around 485,000 euros in funding from the Free State of Saxony from the Investive Sports Funding programme.

The renovation of the Klaffenbach gymnasium was approved by Chemnitz City Council in September 2017. Construction began in March 2018 and the Klaffenbach gymnasium, including the sports field, was handed over in its entirety to users in April 2019.

The gymnasium is used by Klaffenbach primary school, FSV Grün-Weiß Klaffenbach, the "Wanderlust 1902" Klaffenbach e. V. cycling club and SV Harthau.
