KL - Conversation about immortality
John von Düffel reads on the occasion of the 6th Chemnitz Literature Days LESELUST
The dramaturge and writer John von Düffel will be a guest at the Neue Sächsische Galerie in the TIETZ, Moritzstraße 20, on 8 April 2016 at 7 pm. "KL - Gespräch über die Unsterblichkeit" is the title of a fictional interview with a person who, in reality, appears to be a fiction of himself. John von Düffel presents an original literary play that offers surprising insights: about the image mania of our time, the daily struggle for visibility and the fear of disappearing.
Admission costs 8.00 euros (reduced: 6 euros). Tickets for the reading are available at the TIETZ at the museum box office on the 1st floor or can be reserved by telephone on 0371 488-4366.
Who is looking at us? And what does that make of us? One person who should know is the famous fashion designer KL, an icon of aloofness who has not seemed to age for decades and always looks the same. An unnamed narrator travels to Paris to talk to KL about appearance and reality, about death and life as an entity that has become an image. But KL is one of the most wilful and capricious interlocutors in the German language. The conversation is subject to numerous regulations and conditions. And ultimately develops in an unexpected direction.
John von Düffel, born in Göttingen in 1966, has worked as a theatre and film critic, radio playwright, playwright and translator. He works as a dramaturge at the Deutsches Theater Berlin and is Professor of Scenic Writing at the Berlin University of the Arts.
