Kick-off event in preparation for the German Road Cycling Championship 2017

On Tuesday, 26 January 2016, the kick-off event for the preparations for the 2017 German Road Cycling Championships will take place. In addition to Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig and Mayor Philipp Rochold, the two local cycling clubs, the Polizeisportverein e.V. and the Radsportverein Chemnitz, on whose initiative the German Championships in Chemnitz are based, will be present.
The event concept and milestone plan will be presented at the kick-off event.

To the German Road Cycling Championships 2017:
Chemnitz stands for a great cycling tradition. Many outstanding athletes on the track and road from the city and the region have achieved success for Germany at the Olympic Games, World and European Championships.
Following on from this, the German Road Cycling Championships will be held in Chemnitz in 2017 on the special initiative of the Chemnitz cycling scene. The city will jointly organise this major sporting event with the sporting support of the Chemnitzer Polizeisportverein e. V. and the Radsportverein Chemnitz e. V. (Chemnitz Cycling Club).
After the school and sports committee unanimously decided to host the 2017 German Road Cycling Championships in Chemnitz at its meeting on 9 September 2015, there is a clear local political vote in favour.
The contract between the city of Chemnitz and the BDR to host the 2017 German Championships was signed on 29 September 2015. Accordingly, the BDR will act as the organiser and the city of Chemnitz as the host.
