Kick-off event for the 875th anniversary of the town
"Chemnitz sings" - Chemnitz twin cities and volunteers from the city as guests
Next Sunday, 21 January at 3 pm, the City of Chemnitz, together with Chemnitz Municipal Theatres, C³ Chemnitzer Veranstaltungszentren, Chemnitzer Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (CWE), Musikbund Chemnitz and the Saxon Choir Association, are inviting you to the kick-off event for the city's 875th anniversary in the Chemnitz Arena.
1,300 choir singers from Chemnitz and Saxony have now registered for "Chemnitz sings". Choirs from twin cities, Taiyuan (China) and Düsseldorf, will also contribute their voices to a successful afternoon. Accompanied by the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Felix Bender, a programme ranging from classical music to entertainment will be performed. There will also be a special children's choir programme conducted by Pietro Numico, the director of the children's opera choir. The audience in the arena is invited to sing along.
In addition to the Mayor of Ústí nad Labem, Věra Nechybová, and her deputy Pavel Dufek, almost 400 volunteers will be welcomed as special guests at the invitation of the City of Chemnitz. The invitation is a thank you for their commitment to volunteering.
