Karree 72 - Community Gardens Sonnenberg
Handover of the Idea Gardens on Reinhardtstraße to Nachhall e.V. - today, 2 pm
Today, at 2 pm, the idea gardens on Reinhardtstraße will be handed over to the association "Nachhall e. V.", which will cultivate the area as a community garden.
Media representatives are cordially invited to attend.
Work on the community garden project in Karree 72 began in October last year. Existing smaller structures were demolished, a water and electricity connection was installed and a container was built to store the gardening tools needed on site during the summer. Trees and shrubs were also planted, which have since grown successfully.
The decision to convert the increasingly overgrown wasteland for horticultural use goes back to a resolution passed by the city council in September 2017 on an in-depth square concept for Sonnenberg Nord/Karree 72.
The planning and construction costs totalled around 148,000 euros, including around 104,000 euros in funding. The "Sonnenberg Community Garden" measure is part of the urban development programme - Integrated Urban Development, which was supported by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund.
The company Steinbach & Richter, Lichtenau, was commissioned to realise the "idea gardens" on the Sonnenberg. They were planned by the planning office Architektur Concept Pfaffhausen + Staudte GbR, Zwickau.
