On Friday 20 June at 1 pm, the two gymnasts Karina Schönmaier and Lea Quaas will sign the City of Chemnitz's Golden Book of Sport in the presence of Lord Mayor Sven Schulze and Mayoress Dagmar Ruscheinsky.
Representatives of the media are invited to attend. The honour will take place in the Green Salon of the town hall.
Karina Schönmaier from TuS 1861 Chemnitz-Altendorf e. V. won a gold medal in both the mixed team final and the vault at the European Championships in Leipzig, which took place from 26 to 31 May.
Karina Schönmaier and Lea Quaas also won the silver medal in the team competition.
As a result of these sporting achievements, Karina Schönmaier and Lea Quaas will be honoured with an entry in the Golden Book of Sport.
Also in attendance will be coach Anatol Ashurkov, coach Tatjana Bachmayer, who will also give the laudatory speech, as well as the board and managing director of TuS 1861 Chemnitz-Altendorf e. V., the president of the Saxon Gymnastics Association e. V., Erik Seidel, and the federal centre manager for apparatus gymnastics in Chemnitz from the German Gymnastics Federation e. V., Matthias Hänel.
