Tickets can be purchased from the Chemnitz Music Society, Käthe-Kollwitz-Str. 7, 09111 Chemnitz, e-mail: vorstand(at)chemnitzermusikverein.de
Just before the summer holidays, many music students from the Municipal Music School will be among the guests listening to their teachers from the various departments play music. Works by composers from "East of the Elbe" such as Dmitri Shostakovich, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Arvo Pärt, Vladislav Solotaryov and many more will be performed. Moderation: Nancy Gibson
As a concert highlight, three pianists (Ulrike Gruner-Zaunick, Irina Bekdurdyew and Tatjana Funk) will perform the following three pieces from Sergei Slonimsky's ballet "The Magic Nut" simultaneously on one piano.
"The Young Man's Love for the Princess " - this piece corresponds to the symphonic overture, which epitomises the romantic love of the young Droßelmeier; it is full of tenderness, concern and the dreamy pursuit of happiness.
"Court jester's dance and polka " - a merry dance by the cooks, who march clumsily with their dishes and from whom nimble rats steal sausage. The king, who has just become a father, dances a cheerful polka on one leg.
"Bacchanal im Reich des Frohsinns " - is a bacchanal in the realm of fun. It shows the temptations on the boy's path. They appear in the guise of beautiful virgins and splendid images of a supernatural feast. Beginning at a very slow tempo, this bacchanal speeds up its pace and ends with a lively, loud and senseless dance.
