Jutta Müller ice sports centre receives information stele

Ceremonial unveiling on 13 December, 11.30 a.m. in the presence of Gabriele Seyfert and Katarina Witt

On Friday, 13 December at 11.30 a.m., Lord Mayor Sven Schulze will ceremonially unveil a new information stele for the Jutta Müller Ice Sports Centre at Wittgensdorfer Straße 2a in the presence of numerous prominent guests.

The date 13 December was chosen because it was Jutta Müller's birthday. Current and former figure skating and ice skating stars such as Katarina Witt, Gabriele Seyfert, Jan Hoffmann, Robin Szolkowy and Nico Ihle will be present in her honour.
The primary school children of the Chemnitzer Eislauf-Club e. V. will perform a short programme.

Representatives of the media are invited to attend. The stele is located at the ice rink on the way to the speed skating rink (on European-Peace-Ride-Straße).

The new stele reports on the history of the ice sports centre and its facilities and buildings. It also provides information about the renaming of the facility as the Jutta Müller Ice Sports Centre and the greatest sporting successes in the sports of figure skating, speed skating and ice hockey that emanated from this sports facility in Chemnitz.

The 21st information stele of the City of Chemnitz was financed with donations from three citizens of the city (totalling 850 euros) as well as from the City of Chemnitz's own funds. The total costs amount to 2,500 euros.

The information steles project is being planned and implemented by the Mayor's department together with the Chemnitz History Society, the Association of Tour Guides, the City of Chemnitz City Archive and the City of Chemnitz Monument Protection Authority.
