"Jugend musiziert": 56 pupils qualify for the state competition

The 25. Last weekend, 147 participants demonstrated their musical skills in the categories of string instruments, solo; accordion, solo; percussion and mallets, solo; plucked string ensemble; duo: piano and a woodwind instrument; duo: piano and a brass instrument and piano chamber music at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, the Flöha Music School and the Bürgergarten Stollberg. 56 pupils qualified for the 2016 "Jugend musiziert" state competition, which will be held in Hoyerswerda. A concert by the regional prizewinners will take place on 28 February 2016 at 4 p.m. in the Bürgergarten in Stollberg, Hohensteiner Straße 16, 09366 Stollberg/Erzgebirge. Admission is free.
63 participants from Chemnitz were honoured with a 1st prize. 30 of them with a forwarding to the state competition "Jugend musiziert" 2016.
Thomas Haubold from the "Jugend musiziert" regional committee said after the competition: "It is always amazing to see how easily and light-heartedly young people achieve top musical performances that go far beyond the boundaries of professional music-making."
The youngest musicians in the regional competition each won a 1st or 2nd prize, but can only qualify for the national level at the age of ten. Outstanding results were achieved in the youngest age group: Matthias Wagner, cello, from Chemnitz, and the piano trio from Chemnitz with Jonathan Morgenstern. Maximilian Zaunick and Jette Mathilde Schmidt each achieved 24 out of a possible 25 points.
In the solo string instruments category, 15 students qualified for the state competition: Kim Winter, from Thierbach; Wiebke Mehnert, from Jöhstadt; Helene Winkler, from Chemnitz; Lydia Stettinius from Chemnitz and Lucie Bartholomäi, from Marienberg achieved the maximum score of 25 points.
In the solo accordion category, 9 students made it through to the state competition: Eric Erler from Freiberg; Yannik Reuter, from Freiberg; Pauline Henkel, from Freiberg and Laetitia Pittschaft, from Augustusburg, each scored 24 points.
In the percussion and mallet solo category, Tizian Schreiber made it through to the state competition with 24 points.
In the plucked string ensemble category, 6 duos (12 participants) qualified for the state competition. The duos Theodor and Marko Dorotskyy from Freiberg and Julia Hajduczek and Kevin Rau from Chemnitz achieved 24 points.
In the category duo: piano and a woodwind instrument, 5 duos (10 participants) and in the category duo piano and a brass instrument, 3 duos (6 participants) qualified for the state competition. Donath Rehm and Robin Gaede from Zwönitz and Bendiks Rehm also with Robin Gaede as duo partners achieved the maximum score of 25 points.
In the piano chamber music category, a piano trio qualified for the state competition.
