Jugend musiziert: 27th regional competition with 180 participants
Competitions from 2 to 4 February in Mittweida, Chemnitz and Aue. Prizewinners' concert on 4 March in the auditorium, Mittweida Municipal Grammar School
The music students are ready to go: The 27th Jugend musiziert regional competition will be organised by the Jugend musiziert regional committee in Mittweida, Chemnitz and Aue from next Friday, 2 February, until Sunday, 4 February. 180 young artists have registered for the solo and duo categories and will face the judgement of the expert juries at the regional competition. Entry is free.
Taking part in the Jugend musiziert regional competition is the first important musical highlight for pupils and teachers at the beginning of the year. The participants have been practising diligently over the past few weeks in order to achieve high scores for their performances and, if possible, to get a ticket to take part in the Saxon state competition in Reichenbach in March.
This year, the main organiser and main venue for the regional competition is the Central Saxony Music School. The main venue for the annual competition rotates between Central Saxony, the Erzgebirgskreis and the city of Chemnitz for the city and greater Chemnitz area. This gives the regional Jugend musiziert competition greater visibility and recognition in the region.
The prizewinners' concert at the end of the 27th regional competition will take place on Sunday,
4 March 2018, 4 p.m. in the auditorium of Mittweida Municipal High School, Am Schwanenteich 16. Admission is free.
