"Jugend musiziert" 22nd regional competition Chemnitz 2013 successfully completed
An exciting weekend came to an end yesterday evening at 5pm at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, the Freiberg Music School and the Bürgergarten Stollberg with the announcement of the final competition results. At the weekend, young musicians performed in Chemnitz, Stollberg and Freiberg in the categories duo piano and a woodwind instrument, duo piano and a brass instrument, vocal ensemble, string solo, accordion solo, plucked string ensemble, pop vocals and piano chamber music as part of the 22nd regional "Jugend musiziert" competition. The juries were impressed by the confident performances of all participants.
The youngest musicians each won a 1st or 2nd prize, but can only qualify at state level at the age of ten. The little ones achieved excellent results: Lucie Bartholomäi, violin from Marienberg, Mariam Winkler, violin from Chemnitz and Wiebke Mehnert, cello from Jöhstadt each achieved 25 points.
Of the 125 participants in total, 48 students made it through to the state competition.
Eight students qualified for the state competition in the piano duo and woodwind instrument category: Debora Buschmann, clarinet from Chemnitz with Quinnlin Zecher, piano from Dresden achieved the maximum score of 25 points.
Four musicians qualified for the state competition in the piano duo and brass instrument category and three singers qualified in the pop singing category.
Of the 32 solo string players who auditioned in Stollberg, eleven made it through to the state competition. Carolina Zaunick, viola (Chemnitz), Simon Winkler, violin (Chemnitz), Lydia Stettinius, violin (Chemnitz), and Helene Winkler, cello (Chemnitz) achieved an outstanding score of 25 points.
Rolf Lange from the Jugend musiziert regional committee was delighted: "In my many years of experience at 'Jugend musiziert', I have rarely experienced such a musical treat as I did this morning in the solo cello competition. "
In the plucked string ensembles, seven musicians with the highest score of 25 made it through to the next round. The duo Johanna and Albrecht Bunk from Freiberg achieved the highest score of 25 .
In Freiberg, the evaluation auditions for accordion solo and piano chamber music took place. In the piano chamber music category, two ensembles with a total of eight students qualified for the next round. Seven musicians qualified in the accordion solo category. Anna-Katharina Schau from Falkenau achieved 25 points.

The prizewinners' concert will take place on 3 February 2013 at 4 pm in the Bürgergarten, Stollberg Hohensteiner Strasse 8. You will hear the youngest prizewinners and some of the musicians nominated for the state competition. Admission is free.
