"Jugend musiziert" 2019

28th Chemnitz regional competition successfully concluded

Last weekend, 2nd and 3rd February, young musicians played in Aue, Großrückerswalde, Chemnitz and Flöha in the categories string instruments, solo; accordion, solo; percussion and mallets, solo; plucked string ensemble; vocals, pop; duo: piano and a woodwind instrument and piano chamber music as part of the 28th regional "Jugend musiziert" competition. The categories vocal ensembles; duo: piano and a brass instrument and early music, ensemble had already taken place in other regions in Saxony. The juries were impressed by the confident performances of all participants.

Of the 130 participants in total, 52 students made it through to the 2019 state competition in Leipzig. 58 participants from Chemnitz achieved a 1st prize, 31 with a forwarding to the state competition.


In the solo string instruments category, 17 students qualified for the state competition. The highest score of 25 was achieved by Lucie Bartholomäi from Marienberg and Anna Chiara Rudelt as a teenage accompanist.


Among the solo accordionists, eight pupils made it through to the state competition. Vivien Leichsenring from Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Yannik Reuter from Freiberg and Laetitia Pittschaft from Augustusburg each achieved 25 points.


In the percussion and mallet solo category, Jakob Grummet made it through to the state competition with 25 points.


In the plucked string ensemble category, five ensembles (12 participants) qualified for the state competition. The duo Theodor and Marko Dorotskyy from Freiberg scored 25 points.


Eight duos (16 participants) qualified for the state competition in the category duo: piano and a woodwind instrument.


In the piano chamber music category, two trios qualified for the state competition.


The piano trio with Jonathan Morgenstern, Maximilian Zaunick and Matthias Wagner achieved 25 points.


The youngest musicians each won a 1st or 2nd prize, but can only qualify at state level at the age of ten. The youngest players achieved excellent results with 25 points each: Paula Thümmler, cello, from Chemnitz; Noah Windsheimer, violin, from Chemnitz and Malte Fleischer, percussion from Pockau-Lengefeld.

Prizewinners' concert

The prizewinners' concert will take place on 24 March 2019 at 4 pm in the "Haus der Hoffnung" (Haus der Landeskirchliche Gemeinschaft), Schwefelstraße 1, 08349 Johanngeorgenstadt.

You will experience the youngest prizewinners and some nominated musicians of the state competition. Admission is free.
