"Jugend musiziert"
29th Chemnitz Regional Competition 2020 successfully concluded - prizewinners' concert on 1 March, 4 pm
Last weekend, young musicians played in the categories piano solo, drumset solo, vocal solo, accordion chamber music, string instrument ensembles and wind instrument ensembles at the 29th regional competition "Jugend musiziert".
The harp and new music ensembles competitions took place in other regions of Saxony. The juries were impressed by the confident performances of all participants.
The youngest musicians each won a 1st or 2nd prize, but can only qualify later at state level. The little ones achieved excellent results with the full score of 25:
- Almut Krassel, piano, from Chemnitz,
- Hanna Louarradi, voice, from Annaberg,
- the cello quartet from Chemnitz with Lionel Taubner, Paula Thümmler, Clara Stöß and Mila Friedrich.
Out of a total of 175 participants, 67 pupils qualified for the 2020 state competition in Zwickau.
In the piano solo category, 14 pupils qualified for the state competition. The highest score of 25 was achieved by
- Pauline Freya Mickelthwate from Chemnitz
- Cornelius Glanz from Chemnitz.
In the solo drumset category, five students made it through to the state competition. Three of them with the full score of 25:
- Jakob Kuhn from Chemnitz,
- Alexander Henschel from Zschopau,
- Tizian Schreiber from Eppendorf.
In the solo singing category, five pupils made it through to the state competition.
In the string ensemble category, five ensembles (15 participants) qualified for the state competition. Each achieved the full score of 25 points:
- the duo from Chemnitz with Maximilian Zaunick (violin) and Matthias Wagner (cello)
- the cello quintet from Chemnitz with Matthias Wagner, Heinrich Bartsch, Clara Charlotte Böttger, Abygail Naumann and Cornelius Glanz.
In the wind ensemble category, seven ensembles (16 participants) qualified for the state competition. The full score of 25 was awarded to
- Lena Kiesling and Annelen Straßburger, recorder duo from Freiberg.
In the accordion chamber music category, six ensembles (12 participants in total) qualified for the state competition. The full score of 25 was achieved by
- the duo Kalin Todorov and Janitsa Scheliaskov from Chemnitz,
- the duo Sophia and Caroline Holler from Leipzig.
At Jugend jazzt yesterday in Zwickau, the full score of 25 was achieved by
- Aurel Foulquier, piano student at the Municipal Music School, Chemnitz.
Ines Gruner-Rudelt, a mother of music students who have been taking part in the competition for many years: "I always find it fascinating what the young people achieve mentally and motorically, and how magnificently they excel on stage."
Prizewinners' concert on 1 March, 4 pm
The prizewinners' concert will take place on Sunday, 1 March at 4 pm in the concert hall of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1, 09112 Chemnitz. The youngest prizewinners and some nominated musicians from the state competition will perform. Admission is free.
