Joint museum night in Chemnitz and the cultural region
Tickets on sale now for the event on 14 May 2022
On Saturday, 14 May, the time has finally come. Museums and exhibitions at 25 locations in Chemnitz and Central Saxony will open their doors for Museum Night 2022 from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets for Museum Night 2022 in Chemnitz and the cultural region can now be purchased in advance.
The integration of the cultural region represents a special new perspective for all visitors to the Museum Night. The Mayor of Chemnitz for Education, Social Affairs, Youth, Culture and Sport, Dagmar Ruscheinsky, comments: "This night is traditionally the best way to explore the wide range of our magnificent museum landscape in a kind of par force ride. After the lean coronavirus years, the Museum Night 2022 will be a wonderful opportunity to see the familiar in a new light, discover the undiscovered and experience Chemnitz and the region as a cultural heavyweight."
Sibylle Karsch, Museum Director of the "Alte Pfarrhäuser" museum in Mittweida, adds: "We are delighted to be part of the cultural region for the Capital of Culture 2025. This will allow us to publicise our cultural offerings to a wider audience." The museum director of the adventure museum in Frankenberg, which will open in 2021, Tobias U. Müller, who will open in 2021, agrees and adds: "The Museum Night is an opportunity to represent the wide range of museums and cultural institutions in the Chemnitz area, to further promote their networking and ideally also to encourage their use by visitors."
Once again this year, a comprehensive mobility programme will give guests the opportunity to explore the various stations in Chemnitz and the region freely and flexibly. In addition to the regular public transport service, there will once again be an extra shuttle service with buses and trains. Guests will be able to reach the facilities in the cultural region via the Chemnitz Model city railway lines and dedicated shuttle bus lines to the venues. Unlike in previous years, this year the special lines in Chemnitz will depart from in front of the Karl Marx Monument on Brückenstraße.

The participating museums in Chemnitz are also looking forward to the Museum Night. Jutta Böhme from the Saxon Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz: "Under the current motto, we are also offering guests who already know the smac quite well the opportunity to delve deeper into our museum." Kathy Eichholz from the Museum of Saxon Vehicles: "This year's motto 'The Unseen' comes at just the right time for us. We want to literally put our historic high garage in the spotlight on 14 May."

Tickets can be purchased immediately from the participating houses, the CVAG mobility centre, the tourist information office and the TIETZ.
Tickets cost 10 euros, concessions 5 euros. Admission is free for children and young people up to the age of 18. The ticket entitles the holder to visit all participating facilities and is valid as a ticket on 14 May, from 5 pm to 4 am on the following day.
For organisational reasons, it will not be possible this year to purchase tickets at the "Fenster in die Erdgeschichte" excavation site (Glockenstraße 16, 09130 Chemnitz) in advance or on the day of the Museum Night. Please contact the other advance booking offices.
Corona note: The current Corona Protection Ordinance of the Free State of Saxony applies to the Museum Night.
