Joint municipal vaccination centre at Chemnitz Hospital
City and clinic to offer all recommended vaccinations in one place from 1 September
The City of Chemnitz and Chemnitz Hospital are jointly launching a municipal vaccination centre from 1 September. For the first time, all immunisations recommended by the Saxon Vaccination Commission will be carried out under one roof. In addition to vaccinations against the coronavirus, immunisations against measles, tetanus, meningococcus, TBE, influenza and others will also be available. The city of Chemnitz is thus playing a pioneering role in the reorganisation of public vaccination services in Saxony and considers itself well prepared for the 2022/2023 season.
Dr Thomas Grünewald, Head of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at Chemnitz Hospital, is responsible for the joint vaccination centre. It is staffed by employees of the City of Chemnitz Health Department and Chemnitz Hospital.
The vaccination centre is located on the premises of the hospital at the Küchwald site, Bürgerstraße 2, House 11 (the previous public vaccination centre of the Chemnitz Health Department will close from this date).
The new vaccination centre is open three days a week (Tuesday and Thursday, from 10 am to 2 pm, and Wednesday, from 2 pm to 6 pm). These times can be extended if demand increases.
It is recommended to make appointments for the above-mentioned vaccinations, which can be booked online(www.chemnitz.de/impfen) or by telephone via the public authority number 115.
People without health insurance can also receive vaccinations there as part of the public health service (e.g. measles vaccination for school-age children).
