On Monday, 15 December at 4.30 pm, representatives of the media are invited to the Christmas party of DELPHIN - Sozialpädagogischer Betreuungsdienst, at Karree 49, Peterstraße 26. There, the children and young people from the childcare service will receive gifts from the Johanneum Children and Youth Foundation, which were selected in advance on the basis of wish lists.
More than 300 lovingly designed wish lists were received by the "Johanneum" Children and Youth Foundation for this year's Johanneum Christmas. Thanks to the foundation's own funds and the support of dedicated employees from the companies eins energie in sachsen GmbH, Südsachsen Wasser GmbH, GGG mbH, Sachsenallee, VBFA e. V. and the public institutions Jobcenter Chemnitz and the City of Chemnitz, these wishes could be fulfilled.
The Johanneum Christmas has been an integral part of the foundation's work for many years. The aim is to bring joy to children and young people from Chemnitz and the surrounding area during the Advent season and to show them that their wishes and dreams are taken seriously.
In addition to the Christmas campaign, the foundation supports numerous projects, including the Johanneum Academy with holiday programmes for socially disadvantaged children and the annual MINT Fit Camp, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs and Civil Law. The aim is to arouse curiosity, strengthen social skills and promote children's self-esteem.
The Johanneum Children and Youth Foundation can look back on a long history: it was initiated by Carl Christian Hübner back in 1855 to open up opportunities for children from socially disadvantaged families. When it was re-established in 2002, it became the first legally independent municipal foundation in the city of Chemnitz.
