Jörg Armbruster presents new book

On Tuesday, 21 September at 7 pm, the well-known former ARD foreign correspondent Jörg Armbruster will present his new book. The Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites interested parties to the event hall in the TIETZ. Admission is free.
Entitled "The Heirs of the Revolution - What remains of the Arab Spring?", Armbruster uses his great expertise and clear analysis to explain the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. He also asks: What does Europe have to do with the failure of the Arab Spring? Is there still hope for democracy in the region? And why is Iran suddenly so influential?
In 2011, the uprisings of Arab youth electrified the world and democracy seemed within reach. Ten years later, the results are sobering: new dictatorships, wars, Islamist terror and the conflict with Iran dominate the headlines. Is a global war looming?
Nevertheless, the Arab Spring has left its mark on the region: Islam has lost political influence, young women are emerging with greater self-confidence. The rebellion of the young against the old continues. On the other hand, they feel abandoned by the West, which is now once again courting authoritarian regimes and thus exacerbating the crisis.
