Jerseys go under the hammer for a good cause

Mayor Barbara Ludwig gave the starting signal this morning at "Haus Schmetterling" for the auction of five jerseys bearing the autographs of prominent athletes. These include Manchester United and Manchester City in the line-up for the season just ended, the DFB women's team, the national basketball team and Michael Ballack. The proceeds will go to two Chemnitz clubs - the parents' association for children with cancer and the KiSS children's sports school at SG Adelsberg. The aim is to honour their many years of outstanding work.

The jerseys have been presented to the Lord Mayor as gifts in recent months or have been created for special occasions. The starting bid is 50 euros. The auctions start today and run for ten days. The virtual hammer will therefore fall next Saturday, 10 June. The auctions will take place on Ebay.

• Manchester United
  Original Manchester United jersey with certificate of authenticity - with signatures of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, among others
  
• Manchester City
  Original Manchester City jersey with certificate of authenticity - signed by Claudio Bravo and others.
  
  These jerseys were presented to Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig by representatives of the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital on the occasion of the "Big Charity Drive" in September 2016.
  
• DFB women's national team
  Original goalkeeper jersey of the German women's national team, winning team of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, with the signatures of all players and coach Steffi Jones.
  
  It was presented by international player Anja Mittag and coach Steffi Jones on the occasion of the German national team's international match against Norway on 29 November 2016.
  
• DBB national basketball team
  with signatures of the German national basketball team, including Dirk Nowitzki.
  
• Michael Ballack jersey
  Junior shirt of the Chemnitz football club "Die Himmelblauen" was presented at the Oldie Masters indoor tournament in January 2013 with the original signature of Michael Ballack.

Parents' association for children with cancer
The association's two outpatient hospice services for children and young people, "Schmetterling" and "Westsachsen", support families with seriously ill children and young people. The aim is to strengthen the families so that they can cope with their life situation themselves and maintain the highest possible quality of life despite restrictions. The aim is to relieve the burden on families, create a little space for them and be a helpful support in the most difficult of cases. The work of the association is based on close cooperation with the doctors and medical staff of the paediatric cancer ward of the Chemnitz Clinic for Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine as well as other cooperation partners, psychologists, therapists and educators of the association. Patients young and old are supported by therapeutic programmes on the children's cancer ward or at Haus Schmetterling.

KiSS - children's sports school
KiSS is a section of Sportgemeinschaft Adelsberg e.V., which was founded on 1 June 2005. KiSS offers pre-school and primary school children a broad-based, child-friendly and health-promoting exercise, games and sports programme. In the courses, the children are given a taster of all forms of exercise and sports over the course of the school year. In this way, each child finds out for themselves which forms of exercise or sports they enjoy the most and, together with their parents, individual inclinations/aptitudes can be identified. KiSS aims to promote the playful learning of basic forms of movement (such as jumping, running, throwing, catching, climbing, balancing and hanging). In addition to a fun and skills experience for the children, this also creates a good basis for the requirements of school sport.
