Jens Weber becomes Managing Director of Technologie Centrum Chemnitz GmbH
The Supervisory Board of Technologie Centrum Chemnitz GmbH, a subsidiary of the City of Chemnitz and Chemnitz University of Technology, has decided on the appointment of a second Managing Director. The company, which emerged from the merger of Technopark Chemnitz GmbH and Technologie Centrum Chemnitz GmbH in summer 2015, offers technology-oriented start-ups customised premises and support services in the foundation and growth phase of start-up companies.
After the previous second Managing Director Dr Jenz Otto left the company in August 2015, Simone Kalew will manage the company alone on an interim basis. The position will be filled on 1 January 2016. On 22 September 2015, the Supervisory Board and the shareholders' meeting decided to appoint Freiberg-born Jens Weber as a further Managing Director of Technologie Centrum Chemnitz GmbH.
After studying business administration at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Jens Weber has been working for the start-up network SAXEED at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg since 2006. SAXEED is the start-up network of the four South Saxon universities TU Chemnitz, TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Hochschule Mittweida and Westsächsische Hochschule and supports professors as well as employees, graduates and students of the universities with funds from the European Union and the Free State of Saxony in the spin-off of companies from science. Responsible for the start-up activities of TU Bergakademie Freiberg at SAXEED since 2010, Jens Weber has successfully supported numerous spin-offs from TU Bergakademie Freiberg in recent years. In his new role as Managing Director, he will further expand the technology transfer from the university to the regional economy and thus provide sustainable support for the economic development activities of the municipality.
Jens Weber, born in 1977, currently lives in Freiberg and will relocate to Chemnitz, where his partner also lives, for his new role.
