"It's good that everyone is involved": Citizens' event for the "The city is me" campaign was a success
The main players in the "I am the city" communication campaign are the people of Chemnitz. More than 100 of them accepted Mayor Barbara Ludwig's invitation to the theatre on Tuesday evening to get a personal impression of the campaign. Invited were citizens of the city, associations, institutions, city and local councils and advisory boards of Chemnitz.
The Mayor presented the campaign and its activities together with the managing directors of the Zebra agency, Joerg G. Fieback and Ralf Sippel.
After the hour-long presentation, the audience took the opportunity to engage in a lively discussion. The tenor of the attendees of different ages was positive towards the campaign. "It's good that everyone is involved", "I expect the campaign to create a spirit of optimism, take a more positive approach" and "The complainers in this city are obnoxious" are just three of the many comments on the presentation.
Some also took the opportunity to present their projects for the city - including Peter Fritzsche, Chemnitz's district master craftsman, in collaboration with Sachsenallee. The result: an oversized declaration of love "I love Chemnitz", which will be installed as a real eye-catcher on Thomas-Mann-Platz in July of this year, thus supporting the campaign.
After the presentation, the guests took the opportunity to talk to us personally or to make a written or photographic commitment to the city of Chemnitz. These pledges can be found on the homepage www.die-stadt-bin-ich.de.

The people of Chemnitz are at the centre of the new communication concept. They describe their attitude to life, profess the good sides of their city and thus become ambassadors for a strong Chemnitz worth living in. The campaign advertises with the inviting motto "The city is me". This year, people in the city and surrounding area will be addressed first in order to jointly develop what is important for the city's identity and then, next year, to get Chemnitz talking outside the city. The online dialogue platform www.die-stadt-bin-ich.de is at the heart of the campaign.
