It's getting colourful - summer flower planting begins

This week saw the start of the annual summer flower planting programme. The city gardeners are bringing colour to the city over a total of 1040 square metres. The first work took place in the "Am Roten Turm" park. Next week, from 2 June, the "Schloßplatz" and the "Schloßbergpark" will be planted.

A total of 24,430 summer flowers will be planted to create a colourful display of blooms, including yellow marigold, hussar's button, blue sage and red coneflower. The plantings were designed by the master gardeners of the City of Chemnitz Parks Department.

The plants were supplied by the Wilhelm-Willkomm GbR nursery from Dresden and the Gärtnerei Gärtner nursery from Drebach.

The costs totalled around 15,000 euros.
