Isolated in the Reich. Reich Citizens' Movement in Saxony

The Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites you to an online lecture about the Reich Citizens' Movement in Saxony on Tuesday, 9 March at 7 pm. Dresden political scientist Sebastian Trept will take a look behind the scenes of a scene whose members do not recognise the German state and its rules and instead proclaim their own states. The lecture and discussion will provide basic information.

Reichsbürger reject the existence of the Federal Republic of Germany and its legal system. Since November 2016, the Reichsbürger movement has therefore been an object of observation by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.
What characterises Reichsbürger and where does the movement come from? Sebastian Trept attempts to paint a more accurate picture of the Reich Citizens' Movement in Saxony and Germany. Case descriptions, membership figures and operational reports give the impression of a heterogeneous movement that, on the one hand, seeks particularly intensive contact with administrative staff and, on the other hand, deliberately avoids close scrutiny. In addition to the pure personal development of the scene, the speaker will focus primarily on its historical and ideological development.
Together with his audience, Sebastian Trept wants to decode the instruments and arguments of Reichsbürger and develop assistance in dealing with members of the scene.
The event is part of the "Kontrovers vor Ort" series organised by the Saxon State Centre for Political Education and the adult education centres in Saxony.
