"Ireland meets Brühl": street party on the boulevard
From Wednesday to Friday, the Brühl Boulevard is in Irish hands - street café with activities and family programme from 2 pm, music from 7 pm to 9:30 pm
From Wednesday this week, Brühl will be in Irish hands: under the motto "Ireland meets Brühl", a street festival will be held on the boulevard from 2 to 4 July. The Irish Week programme with lots of music, dancing and joint activities has been initiated, prepared and organised by the non-profit organisation Inspire, a group of Christians from different churches, together with exchange guests from Ireland. According to the Brühl Office of the City of Chemnitz, they would like to liven up Chemnitz Brühl. For example, a meeting place will soon be built on the boulevard, events and social activities will be organised and meeting spaces will be created.
The "Ireland meets Brühl" festival that has now been organised is linked to a youth exchange: around 20 young Irish people are visiting Chemnitz for a week to support the work of Inspire on the Brühl. Lisa from Northern Ireland is one of the young people: "We have drawn up lists of everything we need to offer face painting, sports activities, batiks and much more for our Irish week and are now storming the shops in Chemnitz to get hold of the items we still need. We are very happy to be here in Chemnitz and cordially invite you to visit us: Don't miss out on this event. Come and see us!"
A street café on the corner of Brühl Boulevard and Untere Aktienstraße will be open from 2.00 pm on all three days of Irish Week, inviting people to join in activities on the boulevard: A family programme including a bouncy castle, craft street, games and sports activities offers fun and entertainment for young and old. In the evening, from 7 p.m. to 9.30 p.m., there will be music: on Wednesday with the Irish Music Night and the band "Green Island" with Pastor Barry Sloan (guitar/vocals) - the Northern Irishman, who has lived in Chemnitz for many years, is co-initiator of the Inspire project on the Brühl. On Thursday, it's time to join in with the Irish Céilí Night, a sociable get-together with music and Irish dancing. Finally, Friday evening offers the Open Stage Night - here the stage belongs to the guests.
