Invitation to the public information event on the two development plans Kaßberg West and Kaßberg East

6 June 2019, 5 p.m. at the Environmental Centre, Henriettenstraße 5

On Thursday, 6 June at 5 p.m., the City of Chemnitz Urban Planning Office invites you to an information event on the Kaßberg West and Kaßberg Ost development plans at the Environmental Centre, Henriettenstraße 5.

In order to secure and further develop the structure of the Wilhelminian-style residential neighbourhood, development plans have been drawn up for two large sub-areas. The preparation of the two development plans was accompanied by lively interest from residents in the Kaßberg neighbourhood. For this reason, all interested parties are once again being offered the opportunity to find out about the main regulations, the expected effects and also about the administration's initial experiences in implementing the two plans.

The main objectives of the plans are

  • to secure and develop the type of building utilisation as a special residential area,
  • to avoid redensification in the inner carrels,
  • to orientate the development towards the perimeter block structure that characterises Kaßberg,
  • preserve the development and ensure the quality of living,
  • to support the refurbishment and reutilisation of the existing old buildings,
  • to design the front gardens,
  • regulate the greening of inner courtyards,
  • limit the sealing of properties,
  • limit and regulate parking spaces and underground car parks.

The Kaßberg district is the most important Wilhelminian-style residential neighbourhood in the city of Chemnitz. Despite some remodelling, the plan area is characterised by residential buildings built in a perimeter block structure. Key features are in particular the buildings along the street and the block interiors that have been kept free.

Note: The documents for the development plans can be viewed in the council information system as B-144/2018 for the Kaßberg West area and as B-139/2019 for the Kaßberg Ost area.
