Invitation to the press conference: Chemnitz wants to become European Capital of Culture 2025
Time and place: Today Tuesday, 16 August 2016, Town Hall Room 118
The city of Chemnitz wants to become European Capital of Culture 2025: The city is launching this idea. In order to prepare a corresponding application, the project is to be further developed with the people of Chemnitz over the coming months.
The planned application will be discussed today at 11 a.m. in consultation room 118 of Chemnitz City Hall .

The European Capital of Culture 2025 will be designated by the Council of the European Union in 2021 following a multi-stage application process - two European cities will hold this title each year. In 2025, Germany and Slovenia will host the European Capital of Culture. The official application phase for the cities in Germany will begin at the end of 2018 and the final decision will be made in 2021.
