Invitation to the photo session: Holiday children get a look behind the scenes of the city archive for the first time
Date: 13 February 2013, 10.00 a.m. - Location: Building of the City Archive, Aue 16
Next Wednesday (13 February), the city archive invites schoolchildren, their parents and grandparents to Aue 16 at 10.00 a.m. for a special holiday experience - a look "behind the scenes" of the archive. The tasks and processes of the institution will be explained in a way that is suitable for schoolchildren. Media representatives are cordially invited to accompany the event, which is the first of its kind, in words and pictures.
The picture "Chemnitz as a fortress" will be used to familiarise visitors with the view of the city 300 years ago and draw parallels with today's view. The old German script is presented, as is the repair of damage to documents stored in the building. Of course, documents, plans and files are also presented and shown how to use the town archive. A historical film strip from 1929 rounds off the visit.
At the end, each pupil receives a "file" with the information collected, historical views of the city and a folder from the series "Chemnitz History. Representations and Documents" series.
Note for editors: This is an invitation to the photo session. Unfortunately, no further participants are possible beyond the 40 children already registered.
