Invitation to the opening of the JugendKunstTriennale 2012
Exhibition shows works by young up-and-coming artists from Chemnitz, Zwickau, Plauen, Hof and Bayreuth from 15 September to 28 October
141 up-and-coming artists from the cities of Chemnitz, Zwickau, Plauen, Hof and Bayreuth and their surrounding areas present their work at the 2012 Youth Art Triennial (PM 500 from 29/08/2012) After 2000, Chemnitz is hosting this art competition for the second time.
The opening ceremony will take place on 15 September at 11 a.m. in the foyer of the TIETZ. Media representatives are cordially invited to attend. Mayor Barbara Ludwig and other representatives from the Saxon-Bavarian network of cities will welcome the guests. The 26 winners will then receive their awards, including four main prizes of €500 each. Chemnitz can be particularly pleased, as the city is represented by young artists in both the age categories of the main prizes as well as the recognition prizes. However, every other member city can also boast prize winners. The supporting programme for the opening ceremony will feature jazz improvisations by pupils from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School.
From 15 September to 28 October, the exhibition in the exhibition rooms in the basement of the Neue Sächsische Galerie in the TIETZ building will show the works submitted by the young artists, all aged between 14 and 25. Most of the works are paintings and graphics, but there are also sculptures, photographs and films to discover. All of the works are characterised by a remarkable quality of artistic execution and a wide range of themes.
Admission to the opening ceremony and the exhibition is free. For further information, please contact the city's cultural office on 0371 488-4126.
