Invitation to the 4th presentation of the Hans Carl von Carlowitz Sustainability Award
Next Friday, 28 October at 9.30 a.m., Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig will once again welcome renowned award winners to the 4th Hans Carl von Carlowitz Sustainability Award ceremony at the Chemnitz Opera House.
All interested parties are cordially invited to the festive event. Admission is from 8.30 am. Attendance is free of charge.
Sustainability has been part of our cultural heritage since the Sylvicultura Oeconomica (1713) by Hans Carl von Carlowitz (1645-1714) and is now also an intangible world cultural heritage. Sustainability has become a general principle of our actions.
In December 2015, the world's nations agreed on the Paris Climate Agreement, which aims to limit global warming to 2 degrees Celsius. All 193 member states of the United Nations were also able to agree on common sustainability goals. These are two important impulses for the motto "Think globally and act regionally". In particular, the aim is to promote sustainability in such a way that it influences action at city and state level.
The city of Chemnitz, the birthplace of Hans Carl von Carlowitz, is an important nucleus for this.
This year, the conference will be prepared and continued through forums in Dresden, Leipzig and Chemnitz in order to bundle ideas and coordinate commitment. The conference is a joint project of the Carlowitz Gesellschaft e.V., the City of Chemnitz and Chemnitz University of Technology and is funded by the Free State of Saxony.
