Invitation to a press conference: Redesign of the passenger tunnel under the main railway station

Time and place: Friday, 4 December, 1 p.m., Room 506 in the Technical Town Hall

One topic that has been of particular concern to stakeholders and residents around Sonnenberg for years is the appearance of the pedestrian tunnel between Mauerstraße and Dresdner Straße, popularly known as the "Bazillenröhre".

Since 2014, a series of workshops have been looking at the future design of the tunnel. The aim was to redesign the tunnel so that passers-by perceive it as a fear-free, pleasant and emotionally positive space.

Since August this year, three light artists and architects have been commissioned to further refine their ideas and present them again to a workshop consisting of representatives from the building department and various stakeholders from Sonnenberg.

The winning design will be presented by Mayor Michael Stötzer

tomorrow, Friday, 04 December 2015, at 1 p.m.
in the Technical Town Hall, consultation room 506

in the presence of the artists.
