Invitation to a photo session on site: Spring bloomers herald the arrival of spring

This year's spring flowering plants can be planted in Chemnitz city centre the day after tomorrow, on Thursday 6 March. Thanks to the mild weather, the plants were delivered well ahead of schedule.

Representatives of the media are cordially invited to take photographs of the spring planting. The event starts on 6 March at 09:30 in the Park am Roten Turm.

Around 11,700 pansies in the colours yellow and blue will be planted over an area of 468 square metres. They will be combined with around 6,300 white and red tulips, which were planted in the autumn.

The first harbingers of spring are also appearing on the castle square. Here, around 1,400 hyacinths and 1,800 daffodils were planted in the autumn over an area of around 90 square metres.

In addition, there are around 90,000 spring bloomers, which are once again displaying their blaze of colour throughout the city this year. These were planted in 2010 and bloom every year.
