Invitation: Photo session and press conference on the partial opening to traffic of the bridge at Dresdner Platz
Date: Monday, 08.07.2013, 09:30 am, construction site bridge Dresdner Platz
Next Monday, traffic will cross the new bridge at Dresdner Platz for the first time. Mayor Barbara Ludwig and the head of the civil engineering department, Bernd Gregorzyk, will be on site for the partial opening to traffic. From around 10 a.m., traffic will be diverted from the temporary bypass back onto the original Waisenstraße.
Media representatives are cordially invited to the photo session and press conference. The meeting point is 09:30 at the Dresdner Platz bridge construction site, Dresdner Straße 38, 09111 Chemnitz.
After the partial opening to traffic, one lane will be available to traffic travelling out of the city and two lanes will be available to traffic travelling into the city. Once traffic has been diverted, dismantling of the temporary bridge and removal of the temporary road can begin at the end of July.
The bridge at Dresdner Platz will have to be rebuilt, as its poor structural condition does not allow it to be renovated. The entire construction project is scheduled for completion at the end of 2013. The total investment is expected to be around 24.8 million euros.
