Invitation: Kick-Off Morgenstadt Initiative
City and TU Chemnitz invite you to the kick-off event on 29 June
Chemnitz won the global "Morgenstadt City Challenge" competition organised by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft alongside Prague. As a Morgenstadt, Chemnitz can establish itself in a long-term network of science, industry and politics and find important partners and resources for sustainability projects. Chemnitz thus receives comprehensive research and consulting services tailored to its individual situation.
The City of Chemnitz and Chemnitz University of Technology have successfully launched this project together and would now like to extend a joint invitation:
To the kick-off event on 29 June 2015, at 5 pm
in the METEOR project centre at Chemnitz University of Technology, Erfenschlager Straße 73.
In addition to representatives of the press, Chemnitz stakeholders from politics, science, business and culture have been invited.
Mayor Barbara Ludwig, Rector Prof. Arnold van Zyl and Bernd Bienzeisler from the project sponsor, the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering Stuttgart, will explain the Morgenstadt approach and provide information about the specific process. Prof. Angelika Bullinger-Hoffmann, Head of the Chair of Labour Science and Innovation Management at Chemnitz University of Technology, and Prof. Noennig from the TU Dresden, Chair of Knowledge Architecture, will also be available as external experts in a subsequent public discussion.
The project starts with a comprehensive urban analysis based on more than 80 fields of action of the Morgenstadt model, including the areas of governance and planning, economy, mobility and transport or energy and resources. Strengths and weaknesses are identified as well as the need for action and potential. This will later be used to define measures and strategies that will support the city of Chemnitz in its sustainable development.
