Invitation for photo shoot: Start of rehearsals for the 3rd dream concert

Today, 4 pm, Flemmingstraße 8, House 4

Rehearsals begin this afternoon for the 3rd Dream Concert, which will be organised by 72 people with and 41 people without disabilities - more than in previous years. This extraordinary event will take place for the first time on 16 November 2015 at 7 pm in theStadthalle's GreatHall.

The first two concerts in 2011 and 2013 sold out the Small Hall of the Stadthalle. "The self-confidence of the artists that resulted from this widespread recognition gave rise to the desire to inspire a large audience in the same way," says a delighted Petra Liebetrau, Disability Officer for the City of Chemnitz, who organises these concerts together with other municipal institutions such as the music school, Theater gGmbH and C3 Chemnitzer Veranstaltungszentren GmbH in close cooperation with the performers.

This year's star guest is singer Judith Lefeber. She is known to Chemnitz residents from "Classic unter Sternen" and "Aida". The Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra is also taking part with a small orchestra. The evening will be hosted by Nancy Gibson, Director of the Municipal Music School, and Horst Wehner, Vice President of the Saxon State Parliament and multiple German wheelchair dance champion.

Taking part in the concert:

  • Cello and guitar children from the school for the blind
  • Kaleidoskop - a choir of blind and visually impaired people and a wheelchair user,
  • Monael & Friends - sign language choir with hearing impaired/deaf and hearing members
  • Motus - integrative band from the music school and Lebenshilfe e. V. with jazz guitarist Joe Sachse and teachers from the municipal music school
  • ORFFeus - choir from the Janusz-Korczak special school
  • Rock-AG - music ensemble from the Schule am Stadtpark of the Limbach-Oberfrohna Disability Centre
  • 20 members of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra

Media representatives are cordially invited to report on the event in the run-up and on 16 November 2015.

Further rehearsal dates, each at Flemmingstraße 8, House 4:

30 October 2015, 3 p.m. / 13 November 2015, 3 p.m.

People with and without disabilities are already involved in the organisation of the concert in the run-up to the event. For example, a wheelchair user created the homepage(www.traumkonzert.de) and a young woman with a disability took the photos for the programme booklet.

The event is financially supported by the Regional Directorate.

The Saxony Self-Help Association (based in Dresden) is also extending a special invitation to the 3rd Dream Concert to mark its 25th anniversary: it is the prelude to the anniversary event with guests from all over Germany and is being held in Chemnitz especially for the concert. "The Managing Director was a guest at the second concert and was so enthusiastic that the idea was born back in November 2013," Petra Liebetrau explains.
