Invitation: Closing event at the end of the pilot phase of the Citizens' Platform project

After two years, the pilot phase of the Citizens' Platform project in Chemnitz comes to an end today. The participants of the Chemnitz Centre-West Citizens' Platform and the Chemnitz South Citizens' Platform will jointly take stock and discuss the results of the project. Mayor Barbara Ludwig will also take part in the closing event.

The event will take place today at 6 pm in the Gunzenhauser Museum. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend.

Associations, initiatives and individual citizens of an urban area come together in a citizens' platform. They identify the common concerns and problems they have in their neighbourhoods and develop their own constructive proposals for solutions, which they negotiate as citizens on an equal footing with representatives from politics and administration. The aim is to improve living conditions in the neighbourhoods.

The basis for the formation of citizens' platforms in Chemnitz is formed by the eight assembly areas of the residents' assemblies. In most of these areas, citizens' initiatives and associations have already formed networks. Existing structures with neighbourhood management, community centres and meeting places are being used.
