Introduction of new operations coordination centre
At its meeting yesterday, the City Council decided to provide additional funds for the implementation of the new operations coordination centre. The aim of the new operations coordination centre, which was already an intended component of the concept for the municipal police service adopted by the city council (B -115/2016), is to merge the field service areas in the public order office in order to enable more effective coordination.
In future, the new Operations Coordination Centre (EKS) will centrally manage the field service operations of the employees of the city's public order service, traffic monitoring, stationary traffic, central investigation services and the newly introduced video surveillance. The aim is to optimise processes in the field service, such as the effective and transparent deployment of human resources, court-proof documentation of measures, raising safety standards, expanding networking with other offices, authorities and external departments and faster processing of cases.
Video surveillance has been added as a new task for the public order office. The necessary technology (workstation) is installed in the EKS. This is where the incident-related evaluation of video surveillance for misdemeanours and criminal offences takes place, as well as any necessary forwarding of data for evidence purposes to the fines office for misdemeanours or the police department for criminal offences.
The operations coordination centre will be housed in the Bürgerhaus Am Wall. The entire measure amounts to around 270,000 euros and will be financed by additional revenue from general key allocations.
