Intervention area "Former Flussbad" is presented
Invitation to the information event: 21 June, 5 p.m., Schulstraße 60
On Wednesday, 21 June at 5 pm, interested citizens, especially from the districts of Altchemnitz and Markersdorf, are invited to an information event followed by a discussion in the open space next to the farm building at Schulstraße 60. The Capital of Culture project "Former Altchemnitz river baths" will then be presented.
Representatives of the media are also cordially invited.
On the open space next to the former farm building at Schulstraße 60, representatives of the City of Chemnitz and the Saxony State Reservoir Administration will present the current planning status, provide insights into drafts and details and provide information on the construction schedule. Afterwards, those present are invited to contribute their suggestions and ideas.
The "City on the River" project, which is being realised as part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, aims to bring the river back to life. The leisure and recreational potential of the banks of the Chemnitz is to be increasingly emphasised and areas along the water are to be developed and made accessible to the public by opening up the banks at certain points and flattening the embankments. In addition, a new bridge is to be built on the site of the former pedestrian bridge to reconnect the two banks of the Chemnitz and the neighbouring urban spaces.
