International Youth Day at Konkordiapark

Numerous offers on 12 August

On Saturday, 12 August, from 3 to 6 pm, the International Youth Day will be celebrated in Konkordiapark. Under the motto "Your day, your city: skate - dribble - help shape", Mayor Michael Stötzer will present the plans for the planned new basketball court. Representatives of Chemnitz University of Technology will bring it to life with virtual reality glasses.

Representatives from the City of Chemnitz's urban planning office will also be on hand to give young people the opportunity to contribute their ideas for the future development of the city and show what is important to them about their city and how they imagine the future. They can write down, draw, stamp or craft these ideas. The results will be incorporated into the future urban development concept. There are also graffiti walls where children and young people can let off steam. The City of Chemnitz Health Department will also be there with a smoothie bike on which you can pedal your own smoothie - sport and delicious drinks in one.

The City Sports Association and the Raise up Academy are organising the "Konk's Krown 3x3 Tournament" on the basketball court. In addition to the City of Chemnitz and the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 GmbH, the mobile youth work of AJZ e. V., Domizil e. V. and Arthur e. V. will also be taking part. The highlight will be the international skateboard event "Bring da Truckaz", which has been taking place for twelve years now.

12 August is International Youth Day. It was established by the United Nations to draw attention to children and young people and to emphasise how important it is to involve them in shaping their city.
