International Bat Night - Bat Night
Environment Agency invites you to an evening excursion - on 24 August, 7.30 pm
On Saturday 24 August at 7.30 pm, interested parties are invited to a joint event organised by the Lower Nature Conservation Authority of the Environmental Agency and the Erzgebirge Regional Association of the German Nature Conservation Association.
The meeting point is at the Milchhäuschen restaurant by the castle pond. The excursion is also suitable for families with children.
Holger Tippmann, responsible for species protection at the Lower Nature Conservation Authority, will provide interesting facts about these highly endangered and useful insect predators in the first part of the tour. In the second part, hunting bats can be observed in the immediate vicinity at dusk. A detector is used to make the ultrasonic calls of the bats audible.
Bats are fascinating creatures: They see with their ears and fly with their hands. But there are still many prejudices against this group of animals, even though hardly anyone has ever seen a bat up close.
