Interministerial working group for the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 meets in the historic Hartmann Factory

Invitation to the press tour with Minister President Michael Kretschmer on Thursday, 16 May 2024, 4 pm

On Thursday, 16 May 2024, the Interministerial Working Group (IMAG) of the Saxon State Government for the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 will meet in Chemnitz. On this occasion, Minister President Michael Kretschmer will visit the future Visitor and Information Centre of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 in the celebratory year and find out about the progress made in preparing for the European Capital of Culture year.

Topics will include tourism and destination development, cooperation with the Czech Republic and Poland and the legacy of the European Capital of Culture 2025.

A declaration of intent between the City of Chemnitz and the German-Czech Future Fund will also be signed during the meeting. The aim is to deepen and further develop cross-border cooperation between Germans and Czechs in the European Capital of Culture year based on the European cultural region of Chemnitz.

Representatives of the media are invited to the Hartmannfabrik, Fabrikstraße 11, at 4 pm for a tour followed by press statements.

The Interministerial Working Group (IMAG) for the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 has been set up by the Saxon State Government to ensure regular coordination between the ministries involved and the City of Chemnitz. It is headed by State Secretary Prof Thomas Popp, the state government's representative for the European Capital of Culture. Members are the state secretaries of all departments. The IMAG meets four times a year. This meeting takes place once a year in Chemnitz.
