Interministerial working group for the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 meets at the Stadtwirtschaft

Invitation to the press tour with Minister President Michael Kretschmer on Wednesday, 3 September, 11.45 a.m.

On Wednesday, 3 September, the Interministerial Working Group (IMAG) of the Saxon State Government for the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 will meet in Chemnitz. On this occasion, Minister President Michael Kretschmer will visit the Stadtwirtschaft, an intervention area of the city of Chemnitz, which is also a maker hub of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.

Topics include the successful development of Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture region in the title year as well as the legacy of the European Capital of Culture 2025.

Media representatives are invited to the Stadtwirtschaft from 11.45 a.m. for a tour followed by press statements. The meeting point is the Kiez-Kantine, access is via Schüffnerstraße 1, 09130 Chemnitz.

Taking part will be:

  • Michael Kretschmer, Minister President of the Free State of Saxony
  • Sven Schulze, Lord Mayor of the City of Chemnitz
  • Daniel Röthig, Mayor of the municipality of Callenberg and spokesperson for the steering group for the regional development concept of the European Cultural Region Chemnitz

The Interministerial Working Group (IMAG) for the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, which is meeting for the 15th time, was set up by the Saxon state government in December 2022 to ensure regular coordination between the ministries involved and the city of Chemnitz with the participation of KHS Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH. It is chaired by Prof Thomas Popp, the state government's representative for the Capital of Culture. Its members are the state secretaries of all departments. The IMAG has met four times in recent years and twice in the current year. This meeting takes place once a year in Chemnitz.
