Interesting facts about the Bundestag election: a brief explanation of the electoral system
On Thursday, 23 September at 7 p.m., the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites interested parties to the lecture "The 2021 Bundestag election - interesting facts about the electoral system, the parties and possible coalitions" in the TIETZ, course room 4.07.
Political scientist Prof Dr Eric Linhart from Chemnitz University of Technology will provide in-depth information about the German electoral system and its special features.
Admission is free. Due to the limited number of places, registration is recommended at www.vhs-chemnitz.de or 0371 488-4343. The current provisions of the Saxon Corona Protection Ordinance apply to admission and in the building.
The event offers voters a sound basis for an informed election to the German Bundestag on Sunday, 26 September. How exactly do we vote, who do we vote for and what are the consequences for possible coalitions?
The German electoral system with first and second votes is one of the most complicated in the world and repeatedly leads to misunderstandings. After all, how the votes for the individual parties affect the formation of a government after the election is more confusing than ever.
The lecture and discussion will focus on questions about the electoral system; no candidates from Chemnitz will be presented.
Prof Dr Eric Linhart holds the Chair of Political Systems at Chemnitz University of Technology. His research focuses on the political system of the Federal Republic of Germany as well as changes in electoral systems and voting behaviour. The expert will be able to explain his research in a very practical way.
The event is a co-operation between the Institute of Political Science at Chemnitz University of Technology and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.
