Intercultural weeks with Art-Mauer-13 on the Sonnenberg

As part of the Intercultural Weeks programme, which runs from 21 September to 6 October in Chemnitz, the sixth edition of the Art Wall, which has been organised as a creative walking event in the Sonnenberg district since 2012, will take place on Saturday, 28 September from 11 am to 4 pm. The sixth street art event will take place in the area of the "Bunten Gärten" (Augustusburger Straße/corner of Martinsstraße) under the artistic guidance of Friedrich Benzler from the ColorRevolution association. Art-Mauer-13, which is funded by the Local Action Plan for Democracy and Tolerance (LAP), will be organised at the KiWi children's club (Martinstraße 28).

Foreigners' representative Etelka Kobuß: "The Art-Mauer project offers participants with and without a migration background a joint artistic platform to make a public appearance as street artists in a much-visited location and to contribute to the beautification of the neighbourhood with their own creativity." Dmytro Remestvenskyy, deputy chairman of the Chemnitz Foreigners' Advisory Council, is the initiator and, as project manager, a committed promoter of the Art Wall project: "With our art campaign as part of the Intercultural Weeks programme, we want to offer a collaboration between professionals and amateurs from very different backgrounds for the first time. The campaign is supported by the Sonnenberg district management as the organiser of the KiWi project and by the ColorRevolution association for the artistic success. The project is funded by the Local Action Plan for Democracy and Tolerance (LAP)."

A particular highlight of the sixth campaign is the sub-project "Art-Mauer trifft Colorrevolution": This has already seen the façade of the old workshop building on the corner of Lessing-Platz and Sebastian-Bach-Straße transformed into a huge, 255 square metre fantasy painting by the artist group "Captain Borderline Crew".
